    Brush a shedding cat on the couch and half the fur floats off to live on your black jeans.

    This brush puts out a fine water mist through the pad while you brush. Damp loose hair clings to the pins instead of drifting away, and there's less static on dry coats. People call these steam brushes. What comes out is a mist of the water you put in.

    When the pad is full, press the release and the whole mat of fur lifts off in one piece. It's rechargeable, runs on 5 V and comes in white or pink.

    Anything with a motor or a speaker makes some sound, and pets notice. When the maker gives a decibel figure, it's in the specs above. For a nervous pet, let them sniff it switched off first, then run it across the room for a few days, with treats.

    Is it safe for my pet?

    Stay in the room the first few times, keep sessions short, and stop if your pet pants hard, hides or tries to get away. Check it for wear now and then, and put small parts away after play.
